The Route

Cycle Chapman’s Peak

Chapman’s Peak Drive is one of the most spectacular coastal mountain passes in the world and an engineering marvel of the time. The planning for the road started in 1910 and completed 1919. The road was cleverly planned with its base on 630 million year old Granite, while the softer Shale was carved away. The pass was closed intermittently between 2000 – 2009 for extensive safety upgrades where rock catching steel nets, bridges and partial tunnels were added to the pass.

with Animal Ocean

If you love the outdoors and want an ocean adventure, why not join us for a Seal Snorkeling trip. Animal Ocean has been running Seal Snorkeling trips since 2009 and it is Cape Town’s best in-water experience with wildlife. Both activities are run from the same Adventure Centre. Plunge into the cool Atlantic ocean and snorkel with hundreds of playful Cape Fur seals. You can interact with them in their environment, on their terms. If you love seals and the ocean, this is for you.
